The brain’s ability to regulate sleep and wakefulness is the main organ affected by narcolepsy, not the heart. It may, however, have unintended consequences for cardiovascular health. Oversleeping during the day, disturbed sleep habits, and increased stress can all lead to weight gain, decreased physical activity, and an increased risk of heart disease. Cataplexy or REM sleep disorders can potentially cause changes in blood pressure or heart rate in certain narcoleptics. Furthermore, stimulant drugs that encourage wakefulness, like Waklert 150, may cause a modest rise in blood pressure or heart rate in certain people. Safe risk management and maintenance of general cardiovascular health are facilitated by routine medical monitoring.
