If you’re like me and you’ve had enough of Kindle Unlimited for now (maybe the reading pile got out of control or you’re just trying to cut back on subs), canceling it is way simpler than Amazon makes it seem. I just went through the whole thing this morning, and here’s exactly what I did – no fluff, just the real steps to know How to Cancel Kindle Unlimited.

  • Sign in to your Amazon account on amazon.com (grab a laptop or switch your phone to desktop mode – it’s much easier to spot everything).
  • Hover your mouse over Accounts & Lists up in the top right corner.
  • Click Kindle Unlimited from the little dropdown menu that pops up. (If it’s not there for some reason, just type “Manage Kindle Unlimited” into the search bar at the top or head straight to amazon.com/kindle-dbs/ku/ku-central.)
  • Once you’re on your Kindle Unlimited page, scroll down a bit to the Your Membership area (sometimes it’s on the left side too).
  • Look for the link that says Cancel Kindle Unlimited Membership or End Membership and click it.
  • Amazon will ask you to confirm – hit Continue to Cancel, pick out a purpose if you find it irresistible (completely non-compulsory), then tap End Membership or Cancel Membership to complete.
  • Boom, you’re done! Your account stays active until the end of whatever billing period you’re in right now – no refund for this month, but no more charges after that.
  • Quick double-check: Go back to Your Memberships and Subscriptions in your account menu to make sure it shows as canceled.

One thing – if you actually signed up through the Kindle app on your phone (Apple or Google Play), you’ll need to cancel it from your phone’s subscription settings instead of the website.

Took me under two minutes total. Does anyone else just cancel theirs? Hit any weird roadblocks? Drop a comment – happy to help!
