How to Get an Ontario Business HST Number? Need Some Guidance

I’m currently setting up a small business in Ontario and recently came across the requirement for an Ontario business HST number. From what I understand, businesses that earn over a certain threshold must register for HST, but I’m still a bit confused about the exact process and when it becomes mandatory.

Is it better to register early, or should I wait until I reach the revenue limit? Also, how long does it usually take to receive the HST number after applying through the CRA? I’d really appreciate any advice, resources, or personal experiences you can share.
