Right so I bought a second hand Explorer about six weeks ago from a private seller and everything seemed fine during the test drive and for the first couple of weeks after. Then last Monday morning I turned the key and there was this really long pause before it finally caught, like it eventually started but that hesitation was enough to make my stomach drop a little. I took it to a friend who knows cars better than I do and he hooked up a tester and said the battery was showing low cold cranking amps, basically it’s still functioning but it’s clearly on the way out and probably been limping along for a while before I even bought the car. What I didn’t expect was how many different opinions I’d get when I started asking around about where to get it sorted in Sharjah because everyone seems to have a different answer. Some people said just go to any battery shop and it’s the same everywhere, others said American vehicles sometimes have slightly different requirements especially if there’s an aftermarket sound system or accessories drawing extra load which changes what capacity you actually need. I came across a mention of Skilled Ford Battery Installation Sharjah while I was reading through some local forums and what caught my attention was that they apparently factor in the vehicle’s actual electrical load rather than just going by the standard factory spec, which makes a lot of sense to me given that this Explorer has a few extras fitted that the previous owner added. I haven’t gone yet but I’m planning to head over this week, just curious if anyone else here has bought a used American SUV and dealt with inheriting someone else’s neglected battery problem.
